Visiting Singapore?

Are you visiting Singapore? Are you a machinist, welder, or bicycle framebuilder? Would you be interested in visiting my workshop in Singapore and giving me a practical advice sometime?

I have a decent workshop in Singapore with two lathes, a vertical mill, a Lincoln v205 AC/DC, oxy-acetlyene brazing rig, a Sputnik frame jig, and lots of other assorted machinist and bicycle frame-building equipment.

I have lots to learn though.

I’ve had great results from overseas trips to work hands-on 1:1 with various experts. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough vacation time to learn everything I’d like to.

Singapore is a giant travel hub, though. Millions of travelers transit annually. That’s why I’m hoping that I can lure some some skilled machinists, welders, builders passing through Singapore to stop by my workshop and share some expertise.

Why would anyone bother? Beside the fact that I’m a pretty entertaining host, how about money? I have no problem paying for expertise and education. I’ve been in Singapore since 1996, I know it pretty well. I can give some pretty comprehensive advice on everything from food, entertainment, and logistics.

Keep it in mind if you’re ever going to be in Singapore with some time to spare. Regardless, if you have any questions about visiting Southeast Asia, feel free to drop me a line. michael.slater@straitsdispatch.com +65 9620 2930

One Response to Visiting Singapore?

I just came across your posts and wonder whether you make bike frames professorially or as a hobby. I ask as I am thinking about building a Randonneur style bike, Steel frame, clearance for fenders, room for 300C x 32 tires, fender and rack attaching points, cantilever brakes, or perhaps long reach side pulls, and so on.

I live in Thailand and visit Singapore frequently and if a frame builder were located in the region it would very convenient to be able to actually sit down with someone, face to face, and discuss things rather then trying to do things long distance.

My e-mail is bpbarden@gmail.com and I would appreciate very much hearing from you.

    Cheers,

    Bruce.
